Nighttime Routine

I love routines. Some may call me set in my ways, but hey I’ll take it. My favorite is probably my nighttime routine, because it means every step is one closer to crawling into my comfy bed.

after dinner

After I eat dinner, I always have my turmeric glow tea with about a tbsp of ACV. It really helps me wind down from the day. I also have to eat one or two or maybe even more pieces of chocolate. My favorite right now is the Hu Kitchen Hazelnut Chocolate. It’s a “healthier” chocolate so that counts for something right? To end off this part of the routine, I watch an episode of Friends. It’s the best way to end off a night.

shower time

One step closer to bed time. Now it is time to wash away the day. For my face, I use micellar water to take off my eye makeup and the Sephora Coconut Water wipes to wipe off my face. In the shower, I wash my face with the Origins Checks and Balances cleanser.

After I get out of the shower, I finish off my skincare routine with a few more products. The Laneige toner has been my absolute go to recently. I use it first, then I go in with my Prism exfoliating serum. To lock in the moisture, I use my Laneige Water Bank moisturizer (can you tell I love Laneige) and my Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Cream.

bed time

One. More. Step. This is probably the most relaxing part of my day. This is a step I have been trying to incorporate into my everyday routine. Rather than looking at my phone, I have started to read a book right before bed. Currently, I am reading Code of the Extraordinary Mind. While reading, I like to light a candle to make my room smell fresh and clean. Finally, after I’ve finished my day, I like to put on my Laneige lip mask right before I hop into bed. It smells so good and leaves my lips moisturized throughout the night.

Instagram Roundup

Since it’s been awhile since I’ve been on the blog (other than my latest post here), I thought it would be best to do a little roundup of what I’ve been up to on Instagram.

Saw A R I Z O N A in Atlanta and they were SO good. I have never experienced a more energetic crowd.

Dinner at Little Donkey. Amazing as always.

Dinner at the New Kid’s Place

Automatic Seafood is the new kid on the block when it comes to the Birmingham restaurant scene, but let me tell you it is a must try.

Sweet Tooth Satisfaction

If you know me, you know I absolutely cannot pass up chocolate. Birmingham Candy Company is no exception.

Long Weekend

Ended off a long weekend with brunch at The Essential. So SO yummy. Plus they have OAT MILK.

City Federal Views

Nothing out of the ordinary here - just a pic of my favorite downtown building.

Instagram Roundup

Wondering what you missed this month over at the House of Hallyn Instagram? Well, you’re in luck! Keep reading to find out.

Was craving Gracias Madre, but honestly what’s new?

Took a trip to Atlanta to see the Infinity Mirrors exhibit at The High Museum of Art.

Threw it back to the pink wall in all black.

Listened to throw back Weezer all day and couldn’t get Beverly Hills out of my head.

Wore my favorite animal print coat and just had to document it.

Put together a little business chic outfit. Who says office wear has to be boring?

The gift guides are coming to a close soon, so be sure to check them out before Christmas arrives!

A Night At The Museum Pt. 2

When we first got tickets to Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors exhibit, I didn't realize there were so many other rooms besides the main mirrored rooms you see all over social media. I remember learning about all of her different dot paintings and exhibits, but I didn’t know I would get to see them in person.

The final room was so cool because you get your own sticker page and you put the stickers anywhere in the white blank room.

It makes you feel as if you are part of the exhibit.

Have you seen the Infinity Mirrors exhibit? Which city did you see it in?

A Night At The Museum

While living in Los Angeles, I always wanted to go see the Infinity Mirrors exhibit at LACMA, but the tickets were always sold out. Who knew I would have to go all the way to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta to finally see it? This past weekend I went to see Kusama’s exhibit with my dad, and it was so cool to see in person. My favorite rooms were probably the two that looked as if there were lanterns hanging all around you. The rooms were much smaller than I expected, but I would still highly recommend going if you can snag some tickets for yourself!

Have you been to the Infinity Mirrors exhibit? What was your favorite room? Let me know in the comments! xx

Fall Favorites

It seems like it’s already winter, but fear not, we still have about a month left of fall! (Yay.) Fall is definitely my favorite season - I know, I know, it’s crazy you’ve never heard that from anyone before. Anyways, here are some of my favorite products, recipes, activities, etc. this season!

You’ve heard me talk about Glossier before, and I’m here to say I am still in love with it. The Balm Dotcoms are perfect for the dry air in the fall and winter. I have tubes of it all around the house.

I’m sure you’ve never seen this coat before..ha. Even if it is everywhere, it is highly worth the purchase. It is so soft and cozy and it really does keep you so warm.

This speaker is perfect for any kind of room. I have this in my bedroom, and I use it whenever I am getting ready. It gets surprisingly loud as well.

Flower Child is one of the yummiest little lunch places. I typically like to make my own bowls when I am at home during the day, but when I am out and about, Flower Child is the perfect spot to eat at.

I love my Nutribullet. I’ve said it before, but it is so easy to use, and since I make smoothies every morning it is totally worth it.

These leggings are really an all year favorite, but I am loving the seasonal colors from Outdoor Voices at the moment. There are so many great looks on Outdoor Voices’ site at the moment even outside of the legging department.

I recently purchased these, and I love them. The stripes on the side give them a Gucci flair, and they frame the face so well.

I was skeptical about these when I first purchased them, but I have worn them so much this month. I love love love them.

I have this exact pair, and I use them pretty much every day. They are perfect for the gym and they block out all the sound around you as well.

I think these are so sleek and cool. They turn your kitchen into a modernized culinary heaven.

A flat white with almond milk is my new go to coffee drink. I originally tried one after reading that it was Alexa Chung’s favorite coffee drink, and I haven’t changed ever since.

Bralettes are great for any season really, but I love wearing them in the winter under a chunky sweater. They are so comfortable and they add a little pop of color to your outfit if you are wearing a lighter colored top.

I wear these every morning when I am eating breakfast or just hanging around the house. The fuzzy inside makes it feel like you are walking on a cloud and they are so warm too.

How To: Get Inspired

Everyone can find themselves at a halt whether it is physically, mentally, or really in any sense of the word. Whenever this happens to me, I like to browse Pinterest. Now I know some people may read this and think, “that’s only for recipes and decorating my house” but I am here to tell you there is so much more to the site.

While my Pinterest boards consist heavily of style, home, and travel inspo, I have also turned to Pinterest for many other things ranging from how to send the perfect professional email to tips on starting your own business. It can really be used for so many things in any industry, and that is why I keep going back to the site.

Check out some of my boards below for your own inspiration or see my entire profile HERE.

How To: Lounge Around

Sometimes (especially when it starts getting colder outside) having a lazy day is necessary. When it’s a cold and rainy day, and you have nothing on your schedule, there is nothing better than cozying up on the couch for a day filled with nada. See the best items you absolutely need to have a full on lazy day below.

Having comfy clothes is a MUST for a lazy day. Who wants to lay around in jeans and a nice shirt?! I love Lou & Grey because all of their lounge wear is so so so soft. My first purchase was one of their hoodies, and I am completely in love.

Ok for this next item hear me out. Who doesn’t want to feel like they are wearing a huge fuzzy blanket? Because I know I definitely DO. I remember always wanting a OnePiece onesie when I was in high school, and since then they have stepped up the game. These specific onesies look super soft and comfy and I think I might just have to purchase one for myself.

Now you most definitely have to have a huge blanket on a cozy day.

Fuzzy socks and slippers make everything better no matter if it is a lazy day or a crazy day.

Coffee mugs - absolutely necessary. How are you going to drink tea and hot chocolate all day without one??

Oh and we can’t forget about candles! They add the finishing touch and send you into complete relaxation.

May Update

Hey. Hello. Bonjour!

It's been quite some time hasn't it?

It's been a busy few months since the last time I was active on House of Hallyn.

Since we last spoke, I graduated! It still doesn't seem real, and I am not so sure how I feel about this real world thing yet. Stay tuned.

See below for some of my graduation weekend highlights. x

We stayed at The London on Sunset and it is one of our favorite places. The views are amazing and they have little bulldogs just hanging out around the hotel.

We also checked out Malibu Wine Safari, and it was the best! (Stay tuned for a full post on this day.)

The most important part of the weekend was GRADUATION. We even had a few pelican friends stop by. These past four years flew by, but I loved every minute! Big thanks again to my parents for allowing me this experience.
