Sweet 23 At The Chateau

I’m not going to lie. I have been dying to go to Chateau Marmont for years now, but I never got around to it. I always saw all the stunning photos with the Old Hollywood architecture and the yummiest looking brunch instagrams, and they made me want to visit even more. Besides all the modern day draws, the Chateau has so much history as well.

Unlucky for us, but also not surprising, it was rainy and chilly when we went for Sunday brunch. We still got to sit on the patio though, because it was covered and heated. Yes. Heated. I was in Heaven.

Where to Eat in Birmingham

It seems like whenever I come home, I always have a list of places to eat at. I make sure to check off the majority of my favorite places, because let’s be real - good food is pretty important. Keep reading to see a list of my favorite dinner places to eat at in Birmingham, Alabama!

1.

Hot & Hot is probably my favorite restaurant in Birmingham. During the summer they make a tomato salad that is out of this world. My dad and I have recreated it at home before and it is just so good. For dessert, I would highly highly recommend getting the chocolate soufflé. But then again I am biased towards anything chocolate.

2.

This used to be a restaurant I always wanted to go to on my birthday - it was one of the only ones open during that week, but I would eat there even if I had a ton of options! They have really good red meat there, and the environment is super cozy.

3.

Highlands is a restaurant that is far above many in Birmingham. It is a James Beard Award winner, so it is always booked months in advance. If you can get on the list, I would definitely recommend going. The degree of service is next level.

4.
bottega.jpg

This restaurant has always been one of my mom’s favorite places to eat. Usually when I eat out, I tend to get fish, but at Bottega I think I try something different every single time. There is also a cafe side that is perfect for a quicker dinner or a festive lunch. The cafe mac & cheese is a dish you absolutely have to try.

5.
galley and garden.jpg

This is a relatively new restaurant in the Birmingham food scene, but it is so good. I love to eat here on special occasions like Mother’s Day, Easter, etc. They put together an outstanding brunch menu, and it is my favorite spot to go on Holidays.

6.

Like I said earlier, I typically get fish whenever we go out to eat, so this restaurant is perfect for me. Their seafood is always so good, and there are so many options. If you are an oyster lover, I would also highly recommend trying them here. Everything is always so fresh and delicious.

Have you tried any of these restaurants? What are your favorite places to go to if so?

My Favorite Holiday Party Recipes

The holidays are the best excuse to make all the fun foods you want. My focus is typically on all of the cookies and desserts I love to make, but I also love to try out hearty soups and bowls. Keep reading to see my favorites!

Appetizers

Bacon wrapped dates - oh my WOW. I love dates and bacon, so when you combine the two AND add in dark chocolate and goat cheese, it becomes legendary. These are a definite crowd pleaser.

Cheese board - this is always a party favorite. The mixture of the cheese, fruit, nuts, and meat gives a little something for everyone.

Entrees

White bean chicken chili - this is my favorite type of chili. It is the perfect winter meal, but it is still light enough to not make you feel miserable after eating it.

Sweet potato gnocchi - gnocchi is a great meal too, because it is a pasta, but it fills you up because it is a potato based pasta. Plus, sweet potatoes are great for you!

What I Eat In A Day

I don’t know about you but I’m feeling 22. Just kidding. No but really, I don’t know about you, but I love seeing what people eat in a day. Maybe I’m just nosy? Probably. If you are just as nosy as me, then keep reading below!

I don’t always eat the same thing every single day, but it typically stays pretty close to the same. What can I say I’m a creature of habit!

Breakfast

Every morning I start my day with a Daily Harvest smoothie. I look forward to it every single morning. I usually add Vital Proteins collagen peptides and some chocolate whey protein, and I am full until usually well into the afternoon.

Lunch

I typically make my own avocado toast for lunch with Ezekiel bread and a boiled egg on top. This day I just happened to eat at Roots & Revelry and it was outstanding.

Coffee Break

flat white

Depending on the day and how I am feeling, I’ll grab an iced flat white from Starbucks or I’ll make a chaga latte from Daily Harvest.

Afternoon Snack

peach yogurt

If I feel like I need a snack, I love to have some kind of fruit. This day I had a some farmers market peaches with a little but of coconut yogurt and cinnamon sprinkled on top.

Dinner

gracias
flower child

For dinner I love to have some sort of bowl. These are two of my favorites. On the left - Gracias Madre. Right - Flower Child.

Lastly…the most important part of the day. DESSERT!

PRESSED

So I typically have some sort of dark chocolate every night, but if I could have one dessert every day it would definitely be Pressed freeze. SO. Good.

Brunch Bunch

My favorite meal of the day is and always has been breakfast. Give me any reason to eat eggs in the middle of the day and I am there! That is why I absolutely love brunch.

This past Sunday I made a stop at Roots & Revelry in downtown Birmingham with my parents, and it was SO good. (The restaurant itself is aesthetically pleasing as well - we all know half of the reason we brunch is to take photos of it ha.)

The Pink Place

Millenial Pink. It's the color of the times. When a restaurant is known as being "the pink place" during the time of millennial pink, you know it has to be the trendiest of all. Pietro Nolita is an Italian restaurant that has a very simple, but very yummy menu. They are known for being a "healthier" Italian place, because most of the items on their menu are not too heavy. If I was back in New York right now, I would definitely make it a regular stop.

This night I wanted to stay on trend with my outfit as well. I wore my fun Zara jeans that I absolutely love. They are so fun to wear with a pair of mules or a pair of booties as pictured here. I also threw on this bardot tunic and tucked it into my jeans to add a little more shape to the look. To finish off the look, I threw on my pink velvet booties that I got in London. They are probably my most favorite shoes at the moment.

LONDON SERIES PT. 2

Tea for three please.

Afternoon tea. The Quintessential British thing to do. Did we go to tea? Why yes of course!

We only made it a few days being in London before we absolutely had to book reservations for tea at The Orangery in Kensington Palace. This place is GORGEOUS. The building itself is mainly white inside, and the pathway leading up makes you feel like royalty. It's not every day you get to walk along the palace grounds to tea time.

If the atmosphere didn't make you feel like royalty, the food sure will. When our tea and food came, we had our mouths on the floor. The little sandwiches and treats were almost too pretty to eat..but that sure didn't stop us. The real test was the taste, and let me tell you it was out of this world.

If you want to feel like a princess, I would highly recommend heading to The Orangery. If not, well keep checking back for more posts ;) Thanks a bunch! Talk soon. x

Gracias Por La Buena Comida

I haven't met many people who are not fans of Mexican restaurants. I am a proud supporter of Mexican food (especially the chips and guac)! Not once in my life had I ever imagined a vegan Mexican restaurant. That's right you heard me. Vegan.

Gracias Madre is one of the best Mexican restaurants in LA. Walking into this place, I was a bit skeptical. When I think of Mexican food, I think of a chicken enchilada or beef tacos. Vegan options never once came to my mind. Let me just say, I was pleasantly surprised.

My normal order at Gracias Madre is the "bowl dos", which has lentils, coconut rice, peanut sauce, spinach, and so many other goodies. The mixture of all the amazing flavors are a flavor explosion in your mouth, and I swear you will want to lick the bowl clean after.

There is not a "best time" to go to Gracias Madre, because it is always popping and always has such a great atmosphere. The outdoor patio is my favorite place to sit, and at night they turn on twinkly lights that hang above the tables. The entire experience is magical, and everyone there is always so happy and helpful.

The restaurant is gorgeous, the food is amazing, and now I am booking a table as we speak. Catch you there! xx

Proud Supporter of the Urth

If you know me at all, you knew this post was going to come eventually. Urth Caffe is probably one of my all time favorite places to eat in Los Angeles. Ever since my first time at Urth three years ago I have been hooked. Up until a few months ago, I would get the Caravan Kale salad every single time I went. Now, I have started to venture, and I do not regret it one bit.

Recently I have been ordering the Greek salad, and it comes with avocados. AVOCADOS. Nothing makes me happier than a salad with avocado.

The thing I love about Urth is that the atmosphere is perfect. There is always a crowd, so if you aren't down to wait for your food, then don't even try to go here. If you are a fan of great people watching, yummy food, and sunny outdoor seating, then you are in luck. Urth Caffe has remained one of my favorite LA cafes, and I am positive it will easily become one of yours too. xoxo - A

The Butcher's Daughter

So we've all heard of Anthropologie right? Only one of the most aesthetically pleasing stores in the world. Now picture Anthro in your head, and then turn that image into a restaurant. The restaurant image you have in your head is The Butcher's Daughter in Venice, CA. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you are in a different world, and on top of that, you automatically feel just a little bit cooler.

I found this restaurant while searching for "the best avocado toast places of LA." I want to say it was number eight on the list, but regardless of the ranking, I will most definitely be returning. Ironically enough I did not try the avo toast while I was there, because it is only served on the brunch menu. (Oh well...I'll just have to go back!) What I did have though was amazing and simple. It was amazingly simple.

We started with an appetizer of truffle mac n cheese, and let me just say WOW. So. Good. I am a little biased towards this cheesy pasta, as probably half of my childhood was spent eating it, but trust me when I say you HAVE to try it here. For my entree I had a kale salad and added a farm egg. The dressing on the salad was so light and fresh, and there was a hint of something that I couldn't quite but my finger on, but whatever it was I approve. The farm egg was just the cherry on top..literally. When you broke into the egg, it just drizzled down into the salad and all the flavors mixed together and just yes.

If it wasn't obvious already, this is a place I will DEFinitely be returning to..probably within the next month. If you haven't already, you should check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
