My Spotify Wrapped 2018

Spotify Wrapped is one of the best ideas to every come about. I love seeing the songs and artists I listened to the most during the year. It is sort of like a walk down memory lane from 2018. I can remember certain songs and albums and different moments that I associate with them.

So to start out the year, I was supposedly listening to Not My Type by s. lyre which I don’t recall ever hearing. I assume it was on one of the Discover Weekly playlists I always have playing throughout the day. I’m kind of into it though now that I go back and listen.

allys top 18 artists

My top song is Just The Same, and I am not one bit shocked. It’s one of those songs I just can’t skip when it comes on. It is such a tune. You have to listen to it if you haven’t already.

The first artist I discovered was Tablo, and I can remember the exact song it was too.

My favorite part of Spotify Wrapped is probably the fact that they make a playlist of your top 100 songs. I will listen to this playlist well into the new year, especially when I’m driving.

Apparently, my favorite musical subgenera is “dance pop” - not sure what that means, but I guess I like it!

I spent 50,035 minutes listening to music. This doesn’t surprise me though, and honestly I thought it would be more. I am constantly listening to music on Spotify.

What does your Spotify Wrapped look like? Let me know in the comments - I love listening to new artists!

10 Covers You Didn't Know You Needed

I don’t know if I am the only one, but I feel like song covers have seriously stepped up their game. They used to sound the exact same as the original but with a different voice. Now people are putting their own twist on the songs and I am here for it. These are my top 10 covers you MUST listen to. (Check out my Spotify playlist HERE where I will most likely add even more than are listed here.)

(Be sure to click on each image to be taken to the cover! All photos/album artwork are borrowed and do not belong to me.)

Somebody Else - VÉRITÉ

I love love love The 1975 and never thought I would say this, but I think I might like the cover better than the original.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

This cover is so laid back and cool compared to the original. I love the upbeat lyrics with the slowed down melody.

Ultralight Beam - Harry Styles

Ok. This is one of my all time favorite covers. Of course I like Kanye’s version, but this version is so different from the original. Plus, it was performed at Harry’s secret show in London.

That Don’t Impress Me Much - HAIM

Effortlessly cool as always. This cover makes me want to roll my windows down and cruise down PCH.

Hey Ya! - Sweater Beats and KAMAU

Who doesn't love the original of this song? The cover is really just an updated sound, but it is still just as catchy.

…Baby One More Time - Ed Sheeran

One of the first albums I remember having was a Britney album, so it’s no wonder I love this Ed cover.

Hard To Handle - Courtney Hadwin

If you haven’t seen Courtney Hadwin’s audition for America’s Got Talent you are seriously missing out. My mind was blown. Her cover of this classic song was out of this world.

Buy U A Drank - MAX w/ Gnash

Funny enough, T-Pain’s version of this song was the first song I listened to when I got my first iPhone. The cover is super upbeat and poppy and so good.

My Heart Will Go On - Jessie J

I will admit I’ve never seen Titanic before, but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating how insane this rendition is.

Sorry - Gavin James

I could listen to Gavin James’ voice all day. He is so talented and this cover is a fabulous take on Bieber’s hit.

Let me know what your favorite song covers are. I am always looking for more! Don’t forget to check out my last post by clicking the button below!

We Can Survive

I love benefit concerts for two reasons - the proceeds go towards a charitable cause, and there are typically multiple big artists. We Can Survive was no different.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales went to Young Survival Coalition, which supports young women diagnosed with breast cancer. With a sold out show, the fundraising efforts were most definitely a success.

The artists that performed at this show ranged from Khalid to Sam Smith to Harry Styles. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that Niall Horan surprised everyone and did a spontaneous set. Every artist that performed was phenomenal, and it made me remember how fun some of the artists were.

In the future I will definitely try and attend more benefit concerts, because they never fail! What benefit concerts do you suggest? Leave a comment below!
